have you lately installed any codec pack ?
if you do so you are in big problem
try to install divx6 codec but original not from codec pack
if this do not help
I'm afraid you have to uninstal codec pack and try to manualy install codecs

uninstall klite and do manual install of any particular codec you need
klite and other codec packs are best way to mess up entire system
if this do not help I'm sorry but try to reinstall windows and no codec packs on clean instalation

Look on dvd player manual which subtitle formats are supported
idx & sub generated from txt2vobsub are graphical format for DIVX subtitles and have no relevance with DVD subtitles
if your player is divx certified use avisub

some avi files have some unreadable frames so you may have cut there
