Subtitle - characters replaced with "_" ?!

I'm using subtitles in almost every movie and have tried several character set but no success... My "č,ć" chars are being replaced with "_"... Why is that so? I'll try now UTF-8 which is full unicode but I don't think that will help...

The language is croatian.

what the point in reformating file? you will only loose quality; try using some other tool like DVD2SVCD which is also very powerful and free, or use nero vision, or http://tinyurl.com/kvvw6, something else... http://tinyurl.com/kvvw6 this software could be very useful but its shareware and mpeg2 ...

maybe your file is on desktop or in my documents forlder and you have or ...
put the movie in folder like this: C:\stuff\movie.avi
C:\stuff\movie.srt

could be a bug in a mux system, becouse only successful movie that i've converted had AC3 sound, not mp3... Anyone has some solution?

you can make very easily perma subs with VirtualDub, friend was talking that he is doing perma subs with that procedure... Cant help more, havent tried by myself...

Damn, can't remember, but I know there were three things. :D I have the same problem, I think that the problem is with file name - make sure that movie path doesnt include some "strange" letters or symbols, the best would be to have path without spaces and "- , . ( ) & etc"... Encoder is not the ...
