I had that once with a file which, although it had the .avi extension, it had been mislabelled and was in fact an MPG1 file and hence was incompatible with Avi2Dvd.
Download and install GSPOT to check the file's properties.

Try opening up the output files in DVDShrink (Google it). If you can, they are DVD compliant.
What burning program are you using?
You might have some luck with ImgBurn (Google it). Burn at 4x only to maximise your chances of a good burn.

Some stand-alone DVD Players can be picky about the type of disc they'll recognise. Are you using good quality Verbatims?
Also some Players may accept only +R or -R etc. Check the manual to see what format they like.

Sounds like maybe you're selecting the wrong file?
Or did you delete the old Avi2dvd output folder from the first file before you began encoding the 2nd file?

Join the 2 .avis with Virtualdub.
Join the 2 .srt files with Subtitle Workshop (comes with a good guide).
Good luck.

In the past I have updated HCEnc by going to C:\Program Files\Avi2Dvd\Programs\HCEnc and placing the updated HCEnc in the HCEnc folder (after deleting the old HCEnc). Note you will need to rename the 2 .exe files to HCbatch.exe and HCgui.exe. Also best to keep a back-up of the old HCEnc as a ...

Thai Subtitles problem

Hi,
I tried to incorporate some Thai subtitles into a DVD, but they came out as weird characters in the finished dvd.
Presumably I had the Character Set in Avi2DVD incorrect (I used the default ISO8859-1). Which is the correct one to choose?
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like that might be an overheating problem. Video encoding is very CPU-intensive, which generates heat. Also laptops are more prone to overheating than desktops. Ensure all grills on the laptop are free of dust and maybe try blowing air over it with a room fan while encoding to see if it makes ...
