I don't know if "regeneration" is the same thing that I discovered, but if you open your problematic .avi file in virtualdubmod and make a copy (direct stream copy) it works nice with Avisub, and it take only a minute or two. Sometimes, if the sound is VBR you need to answear "no" to the first ...

I have the same problem as you guys. All my Prison Break ep. work fine to add subtitles with AviSub, but not Lost and 24. After doing some research I came up with a working method. I don't know why, but it works and thats good enough for me. Now I have added subtitles to several Lost and 24 ...
