AVI2DVD Warning no strange symbols

Post by lizardkings859 »

I am new to this, and want to convert my avi movie files to dvd video files so i can burn them to blank DVD+R disks. When i load an AVI it gives me a warning stating to make sure that my path/file has no strange symbols...

I know my files name has no strange symbols. once i click ok, nothing else happens. I have no audiostream to choose from, the Film Info all has Zeros.

can someone tell me what i am doing wrong, thanks for any help

Make sure the folder it's in doesn't have any of the strange symbols either. I was having that same problem and couldn't figure out why it was giving me that error. Then I realized the file was located in my DC++ folder and the '++' was causing the error. I just moved it to straight to the F: and it worked.

I can not believe it was just the folder name

This solution will solve alot of problems in other topics. Too bad there is not a way to do a mass posting to all the topics.

Would I be able to make a request - I don't think that some of the symbols listed in the invalid filename warning are that strange at all, such as [ or ] . If a symbol is permitted by all of the os operating systems, why not allow their use in the software? Just looking at avis downloaded from the net about a sixth of mine have [ ] 's in the filename. Renaming the files does not seem the best solution considering the split it will cause with p2p seeding. Any possibility of allowing them in future releases, I imagine modification involves escaping those characters. Thanks!

In the older version you could have a filename that looked like this: The.4400.S01.WS.AC3.DVDRip.XviD-MEDiEVAL+SweSub without encountering any trouble at all, it's really annoying to rename all the files...

I have the same problem, and the file is a) a file with one space in the name, eg "FILE NAME.AVI", and b) located on the desktop in a normal Windows User Profile location on the hard disc drive.

If I move it to the root of another partition it can be read fine.

That's a BUG, nothing else.
