The srt is with the movie file on the C:\ Drive (C:\c.srt to be exact), here's the first 5 lines of my srt file:
1
00:00:05,050 --> 00:00:09,009
as if its hardship was already over.

2
00:00:20,565 --> 00:00:25,924
But even under those hellish conditions...

spumux.xls:
- <subpictures>
- <stream>
<textsub filename="C:\c.srt" characterset="ISO8859-1" fontsize="20.0" font="ARIAL.TTF" horizontal-alignment="center" vertical-alignment="bottom" left-margin="60" right-margin="60" top-margin="20" bottom-margin="35" subtitle-fps="23.976" movie-fps="23.976" movie-width="720" movie-height="480" />
</stream>
</subpictures>

It's strange because I'm trying to convert the second half of a movie, subs and everything worked fine for the first half.

I think I had 15gb of free space when I tried this. My OS is Windows XP Professional Edition.

I'll try encoding with another encoder, with the movie and sub in the C:\ root and with the last last new version posted by trustfm in this thread.

Thanks.
