Aspect Ratio

Post by mr.Timmons »

I'm having trouble getting AVI2DVD to recognize the 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio on my avi. It comes out full screen and funny looking. I did the same project twice, once with 16:9 formating and once with 3:4 formating and they both came out the same. Any suguestions?

same problem

I'm having the same problem. When I load the .avi file, the program automatically correctly recognizes the movie as being 16:9, but when I burn the DVD in the end, it is in fullscreen with the sides chopped off. Please help us.

I suggest you open the .avi in a player, then disable some of the filters eg. VobSub (choose 'Never Load'), and everything should come out ok.
I used to have the same problem: when VobSub was running, Avi2DVD couldn't perform a correct analysis of the .avi

I have had the same problem. I don't understand your solution. Can you be a bit more specific about how to do this.

Correction: Turns out that what is happening for me is that the DVD from the iso that avi2dvd creates plays fine (i.e. 16:9) on my computer screen, so avi2dvd is doing its job right--to a point. But on my DVD player and TV it cuts off the ends. Somehow the right message isn't getting to the DVD player (Philips DVP642). If I tell the DVD player that the TV is 16:9 (it's not), all that happens is that the image is distorted.

Maybe this goes beyond the topic of this forum, but if anyone has any advice, I'd appreciate it.

thanks.
