changing path name

I am new to the whole avi2dvd thing. I have switched my avi files to dvd before with my nero. I for the life of me can't remember how I did it, yes the dvds play on my dvd player. Now I am using the avi2dvd program and I get the the message about the symbols. I have never had to change my path way before so I have no idea on how to do it. Can someone please help?!

maybe your file is on desktop or in my documents forlder and you have or ...
put the movie in folder like this: C:\stuff\movie.avi
C:\stuff\movie.srt
