Problems with pt 2 of a .srt file conversion

Post by samhfoley »

I am new to this so bear with me. I changed the filename of part one my .srt to matrix.srt, and converted it just fine to .sub and .idx. Wooohooo, I thought ...this is easy.

Went to do the same to the 2nd file (2 part avi movie with split subs.) When I tried to convert I was given the cryptic message stating...

i have a suggestion to see if your house is under surveillance or not
is too long. Please correct the srt and reload it. You can just use a smaller font size.

Well I tried fiddling with the font size on the program got all the way down to 10 before I did not I get error messages. At 10 I cannot read the subs, and also they are now appearing in the upper left corner instead of centered at the bottom of the screen. What can I do to convert the 2nd half of my srt??? Thanks for your help and bear with me as I am a beginner at this subtitle business. Thanks

open the subs with notepad and edit the long lines....
[split them in two lines etc...] you have to edit manually your subtitles ...
