I had that problem too.I'm not saying this will be helpfull just what I did and it worked.

So I first tried to convert a movie as usual. But it didn't get too far as there popped up a message saying "interface not supported".So I start googling and find the advice of re-installing the program. So I do.un-install,re-install.And it askes me to install avisynth.I said no cause it didn't look important. So I try again and the message stays away. But now it started getting stuck at the beginning of the video encoding and I got the 0 byte problem.A few tries later I do see the video encoding screen (I used HCEnc) and I see it's not working. But it says something along the lines of "avisynth error". So I go and install it and then it worked perfectly.I don't know if this helps you but it worked for me.Oh and I switched to FreeEnc with 2 passes if that's important.I hope this helps
