Current status of Avi2Dvd?

Post by DoctorM »

Is there any development still going on for this program.
It's still my favorite and preferred method of conversion, but there are a few bug that need squashing... not to mention a few new features that would be appreciated (really, must ac3 audio tracks be reencoded?)

Anyway, there has be no new release of this for a looooong time. Does anyone know of any progress with this?
The only other programs that work similarly either use inferior encoders or are less featured.

Never tried it.

Edit: Tried it... and the first file (mkv/x264/ac3) gave the error "audio delay too long" or something and gave up.
So much for that. At least it uses CCE.

I like AVI2DVD with CCE, excellent program but it is starting to fall behind. At least with the filmMachine it uses my favorite CCE , and is always being updated, the guy who wrote it is always there to help sort out any problems

I feel the same about Convertxtodvd, easy to use but quality is below some of the free encoders in my opinion

Tested and was very pleased with the quality, simplicity and flexibility of FAVC.
The only downside is there is no CCE support, only HC and Quenc. That of course makes it much slower than anything that uses CCE.
There's even one pass predictive, which I love.
The features and ability to tweak are crazy good though making it a good alternative if time isn't an issue.
