Could you add a brighter PAL picture (without subs). Something like the one shown here: http://www.trustfm.net/divx/SoftwareTxt2Sup.html - but with black bars of course.

I can hardly see where the picture ends and the black bars begin.

I can try make some myself - just give me a hint of how you do it ;). But right now I don't need it... someone else may though.

Oh... so you just resize the picture afterwards to make it the right size ;)

Before I used to use srt2bmp to create xsub file and it was very helpful in showing where the subs will show on either 4:3 or 16:9 TV, with guide lines of the ratio of the move (in its case, the resolution of the avi).

I would suggest, though I have no idea if it difficult or easy to implement, something like this.

1) A check box to enable guide lines
2) A pulldown menu to select the ratio of the DVD (including custom)
3) The guide lines move in accordance with the ratio.
