Hi,
Got a Widescreen 2.35:1 Anamorphic AVI source file and i want to get it onto DVD however i can't seem to spot the setting in AVI2DVD to allow me to do this without converting to either 16:9 or 4:3. So could someone help?
Thanks in advance to all replies

2.35 does not equal 1.77 theres a bit of a difference (notably 0.57) Point is when i encode by 2.35:1 AVI -> DVD 16:9 using AVI2DVD it cuts the edges off, which i would like to avoid (Its doesn't stretch/shrink the image it does litterally take the edges off). So does anyone know how work round this?
I couldn't get AVI2DVD to produce a 2:35 DVD either. I ended up using "The FilmMachine"-

The FilmMachine is free and comes with the QuEnc encoder which is also free but the recommended encoder is CCE (Cinema Craft Encoder). CCE is not free (the free demo version of CCE is crippled and will not work with either AVI2DVD or The FilmMachine). I ended up resorting to CCE because it was more tolerant of the frame errors that came with the AVI that I was trying to convert (I ran the AVI through DivFix but it failed to find anything wrong).
Using CCE, I was able to produce a DVD with the correct aspect ratio but for some reason, although it plays correctly on the PC (with WMP and VLC), my standalone DVD players (3 different brands) still display them at 16:9, cutting off the sides! I tried fidgeting with the player settings to no avail. I used Sonic's RecordNow (it came with the PC) to burn the DVD but my friend who has Roxio 7.5 had the same problem. Weird.
Since The FilmMachine didn't yield any better net results, I have gone back to using AVI2DVD which I think is a great program.

Aspect ratio wider than 16:9
Hi! Me too have a movie which is avi 704x304 (aspect ratio 44:19 = 2,316).
Unfortunately, the DVD produced is 16:9 = 1,778, so the DVD image appears compressed from left and right ant the figures tall and thin.
It would be nice if we could maintain original aspect ratio.
(If it is wider than 16:9, black space up and down would be ok.)
Thanks.

Hmm, how to cut a sample, retaining the original format?
The original is DivX 5.0, as GSpot says.
I've cut two scenes with VirtualDubMod and compressed the sample extract with DivX 6 Converter.
I put now the sample in AVI2DVD, and I get a normal aspect ratio (black added at top and bottom, so 2,316:1 becomes 1,78:1).
That's what I would like! This sample is DVDcoded ok.
But this didn't happen with the original! (no black added, but image compressed).

Aspect Ratio Problem 2.35:1
I also have this problem with AVI2DVD 4.2.0 and 4.3.0
I am using a 656x272 xvid Avi and the resulting DVD does not maintain the original aspect ratio. The video is vertically streched to fill a 16:9 frame.
Avisynth script reads:

In the past I remember doing similar conversions of 2.35:1 AVIs without problems.

If I cut a piece from the original avi using VirtualDub (direct stream copy) and use that in AVI2DVD the resulting DVD preserves the original aspect ratio.LanczosResize(716,480,0.0,0.6)
AddBorders(2,0,2,0)
