this program works great! i can load serveral avi files (tv series episodes) and batch encode all of them and join them into 1 file and burn them to dvd using the iso that this program creates.

so far to do what ive been doing i had to use virtdub to reencode the files to have the same fps/bitrate/codec etc.. then change the file names to cd1,cd2,cd3 etc. load the first file select my options and viola come back a few hours later and then burn the output usin recordnow, cd burner x, etc.

a few things this program lacks is

1. image resizeing (more ratios than 4:3 or 16:9, maybe something like a pulldown menu with all the available sizes that way my images dont get cut off on the edges)

2. a kick ass authoring gui for subtitles and title/chapter menu creation that allows moving background titlemenu with audio (selectable by loadin/importing a small avi for the movie with audio or can import another audio stream), selectable chapter icons (via bmp,jpeg,giff,tiff,etc.. from taking a screensot of the movie [k-lite media player classic can take screen shots and allows u to save the image]) with a small preview window to allow for layout design and to see over bleed size (where the image will be cropped off when played on a smaller tv)
and of course the gui will need templates for the menu creation and buttons for the chapters.

so basically this program jut needs a few polishing items and it will rock!
well it rocks now but i would like to author my dvds a bit more.

Firstly, great piece of software, especially as a beta. It has worked well fro me (converting AVIs to DVD format). A couple of issues I have noticed that you may be aware of are as follows:

Bugs
1. The output directory cannot be changed.
2. If a different ISO filename is specified (other than DVD), it does not
appear to be used. The file created is DVD_Image.iso
3. Cannot Add more than one job from the same input directory (which
becomes the output directory). Related to bug #1
4. Running of external applications not hidden even though "Hide
External Applications" checkbox is checked.

Suggested Enhancements
1. There is an option to create an ISO file ("Make Iso") AND VOB files,
but no option to create ONLY the ISO file. This would reduce
conversion time and required disk space if you could create one
format or the other.

2. I think the log files and script files in the Avi2Dvd_temp directory
should be created in a directory with the application.
eg. Under c:\program files\Avi2Dvd\temp.
They could then be overwritten with each run of the software.

3. The DVD and ISO files should be created in their own sub-directories
under the output directory using the name of the input file as the
main sub-directory.
eg. input file is matrix.avi
Output directories would be as follows:
<output directory>\matrix\AUDIO_TS
<output directory>\matrix\VIDEO_TS
<output directory>\matrix\ISO

Hope these comments are of some assistance for the next version.

Hi, I'm having a problem with Bulgarian subtitles. In AVI2DVD the Bulgarian language is put with the Russian on the KOI8-R encoding, but that's not correct. The Bulgarin encoding is Cyrillic (Windows - 1251). I've tried all the charsets available in the AVI2DVD and every time my subtitles look "JIBRISH".
My suggestion is to add Cyrillic (Windows - 1251) encoding for the subtitles.

i would like to see an option to use the ac3 from an .avi/.ogm/.mkv or even an external .ac3 file DIRECTLY; withouth re-encoding (and losing quality) it

also 2.0 output would be very nice

I would like it if AVI2DVD has the ability to add submenus. I don't want the main menu cluttered with chapters, subs and other stuff in one page. I want it to point another menu so I can have audio and subs as it's own menu and scene selection as another menu, etc.

(There wasn't need for this until now, but, if we want to use again a menu which took hours to build...)

(Also, it would be nice if I could reauthor the menu, without having to recode the video (over 8 hours processing), because the menu I made just... didn't make it! (Don't know what I did wrong; I see a blank covering all the backgroun except a small part at right, no buttons or anything... I'll check out.))

the saving of the menu it is really complicated because all the objects are created dynamically . so i have to memorize all the attributes of them on an ini file and then re-envoke them reading them by that file . It is really really hard/annoying work to do . After all who will ever neen an exactly same menu for his dvd ???

TIP :
You can use gimp or other painters and you can create an background with the buttons/text/photo of the film already inside ! when you load the background you have all te buttons already done !
Now you only have to add the AUDIOBUTTONS/SUBBUTTONS/CHAPTERBUTTONS/STARTBUTTON

I have 2 big suggestions.

1. Can you allow to add more than one source file to the dvd? I want to burn tv episodes, and it simply does not make sense to only put one 24 minute episode on a whole dvd!

2. Add a button to shrink the video by 10% and add black borders. I could do this in avisynth, but it would just be a lot easier if there was just something in Avi2DVD that you can check. Many of my AVI files have the subtitles hardcoded onto the video, and they are not in the title-safe area, so you can not see them when you play it on the TV. By shrinking the video and adding borders, you force them into the title-safe area.

i think that u should have some kind of automatic proceed button, because when i leave it on and go somewhere it always stops, wat i mean is when i load a buch of jobs it only does one or two
