Hello
I have somehow found my way to this forum as I'm trying to put an hour long Mpeg file onto a DVD+r, I Have no knowledge of file formats and need to know if the avi2dvd software would be able to convert the mpeg file to a dvd recordable format.
Also if this software works will It decide to charge me $40-50 before it will complete the task like the last 9 possible mpeg to dvd converters I have tried from various websites
The mpeg file was recorded from tv on my computer
Please Help I've been trying to figure this out for 48 hours and it's totally over taxing my poor technophobic brain
If this software can't preform the task I'm sorry to have gatecrashed your forum <cheeky mode> but could you point me in the direction of some free software that can
Mpeg to DVD conversion

Well, Avi2Dvd is totally free. But I don't think it support mpg files. There should be ways to get around that. VirtualDub could be one to open your mpeg and demux. Not too sure how to use the demux audio, video to work in avi2dvd. Wait for Trustfm to answer this. I am interested in how the program will support mpg files as well.

hmm
mpeg
if you have mpeg2 file it is quite possible to authorize that for DVD
usually you do not need any converter or something like this unfortunately only DVD authoring program as I know whish is free is Ifoedit and it is little unfriendly but it will do job
what you need FOR MPEG2 files
imago demuxer if this is standard mpeg2 file
if this is satellite recording use pvastrumento with option demux
and ifoedit
here you can find srt2sup for adding subtitle if you like
img tool for making DVD image
and any burning software for burning on DVD
process look like this
step1
demux your file
step 2
use bee sweet for making DVD audio compatible you have preset for this
step 2a
if you have any subtitles use srt2sup
step3
use ifo edit to authorize your DVD
step 4
use img tool to make DVD image
step 5
use daemon tools to mount your created image to virtual drive and test DVD you make in some DVD program like intervideo or cyberlink or any
step 6
burn to DVD
notice
Manu (almost all) DVD plays can play non standard files but you may have some which don't do this
burn on some RW DVD for test first
If your DVD player can't play this file You must use some encoder to make DVD compatible file
there is free mpeg encoders so use it they are not perfecta and take a time to re encode file but you will have DVD compatible file
