Avisub problem

hi

i recently discovered this program.
i use it to watch avi files on my stand alone dvd player.
it has srt support but the default font type of my dvd player is really small and yellow so its barely readable.
So avisub was really a nice discovery.
i used it already to hardcode multiple movies.

However, with some .avi files it goes wrong.
I mean, it does paste the subs to the avi without any errors but when I then view the .divx file it has a really bad framerate, while the original .avi is fluent.
even when i burn this .divx to a dvdr and play it on my stand alone player, the framerate is still terrible.

This only happens with some .avi files i got.
No matter how many times i retry them.

anybody an idea how this comes??
