Changing color palette on Generated idx sub subtitles?

I?m adding permanent (non Latin fonts) subtitles to some DivX /XviD movies, for playing on a stand alone DVD player with DivX /XviD support - normally I could use Avisub22 (an excellent program, doesn?t reconvert the video ? I think), but doesn?t work with all the .avi files. Some times the program can finish without any errors, but the avisub file I got has no video ? only sound, other files are just fine and perfectly playable with permanent subs on the DVD player. Because of this problem, some times I prefer to use the other excellent program Txt2Vobsub, it converts only the subtitles from ***.srt to ***.idx and ***.sub and the DVD player shows them correctly.
The only problem I have with it is the color palette when played on DVD player. Generated idx/sub subtitles look just fine on computer, but look very weird, unacceptable on any DVD player. I read the tutorial, and see that there is a suggestion to use color scheme from IFO file, but not much explanation how to do this. I downloaded IFOEDIT for editing, the example zipped IFO file, but when unzipped it turns out that there are two files? Do I have to put them all together, with the .avi .idx and .sub in one folder? Do I have to rename them like the original .avi file?

First of all try the FIRST color option (RGB Only)
Let me know what happened in this case.
We have to do some testing ... sorry

Hi, thank you for your response. I have tried all the Color options: PC(RGB) only, DVD(YCRCB) only, PC+DVD and PC+DVD (safe palette). No matter which option I select, I'm getting the same result = Turquoise text with pink outline, when played on my DVD player. The DVD player is

Hi, thank you for the fast response.
I edited the .ifo according to instructions.
????..Some DVD Devices might want an VTS_01_0.IFO file in order to get correct colors
Just Download VTS_01_0.IFO load it on Ifoedit and press VTS_PGCITI and then VTS_PGC1.
Then find the Color 0 Y Cr CB ,doubleclick it, and put the value: 7F 80 7F
Then find the Color 1 Y Cr CB ,doubleclick it, and put the value: 11 73 76
Then find the Color 2 Y Cr CB ,doubleclick it, and put the value: D5 9D 12
Then find the Color 3 Y Cr CB ,doubleclick it, and put the value: 1D 6B FF
Then press save. Thats all.?
Inserted the test.sub, test.idx, test.avi and test.ifo in one folder burned on a DVD-RW and I?m still getting the same = Turquoise text with pink outline.

this is strange ! Even if you had problems the colors should change !
Do you have an updated firmware ?

I've just checked and this is latest firmware from October 2007.
..............I experimented a little bit with the Colors options, when I set Antialias, Outine and Text to white ? I?m getting all black subtitles ? not readable and not nice looking, but this means that maybe there is a combination of colors that can set the color palette to White.
I tried with all black and I got the same black subs. If I put the ?Antialias? to Grey, ?Outine? to black and ?Text? to white, the result is funny looking pink subs with dark blue shadows. Some other combination gave me black subs with blue shadows??
So three columns with 15 colors each = 3375 combinations, it will take forever to guess?:(

It is an clear problem of the player i guess.
The Color method is simple .
a) Ifo files have the 16 COLORS (green blue red etc...)
b) SUB files have the COLORE PALLETTE INDEX (Color1=3 meas that the color1 is the third color of the ifo file )
c) IDX emulates the ifo file. Here we have two subcases a) RGB pallette b) YCRCB pallette (depends what the dvd device support)
So there are some players that just need the idx (emulate the ifo). Others need the ifo.
Yours player does not read correctly nor idx ether ifo !
I do not know why.
I am pretty sure that txt2vobsub does not generate wrong colors itself
