need some help

Can anyone help me?

I currently have a movie in two AVI files, named CD1.avi and CD2.avi. It is a foreign language movie and so I also have two subtitles files CD1subs.srt and CD2subs.srt. I have been told that if they are all in the same folder and I simply add CD1.avi to the job que (and set the subtitles to CD1subs.srt), then AVI2DVD will automatically combine the two avi's into one movie, and will also combine both subtitles and attach them to the movie.

I have attempted the above, by adding CD1 and CD1subs as a job. It indeed created a file called CDJOINED.avi

I opened this file and it was in fact the exact same as CD1.avi, and without subtitles. Not only did it NOT attach the second half of the movie, but it did not even attach the subtitles.

I fear I will have to use virtualDub to join the two avi files, and then convert them as a whole. But how do I join the two subtitle files, and then join them to the movie?

In fact, if anyone could just flat out explain to me step by step how to join the two avi's with the two subtitles, then it would be MOST appreciated! Because I have tried, and the result was not even what I was attempting.

Join the 2 .avis with Virtualdub.
Join the 2 .srt files with Subtitle Workshop (comes with a good guide).
