listen this bug appeared to me and on 0.3.7 but it is easy to solve ...
on step 2 change to vcd and then load an sub and unload it . Then again select dvd output and load the sub ... its a small conflict i dont know why but it is not that difficult . It appeared only once !!

i will try to fix it better ...
just play with the output and re-load the sub ...
