8.7 Using Sitemap Generators

At the section "Search engines submission" we discovered the importance of the sitemaps, but how you can generate a sitemap of a site that has dozens of products? Making a long sitemap by hand can be painful. We can generate easily our sitemaps by using some softwares. A list of indicated softwares doing this job can be found at the the web address :
code.google.com/sm_thirdparty.html in the 'Downloadable Tools' section.
Please note that this list is a Google recommendation.
I use GSiteCrawler but you can use any other that is included in Google's list. GSiteCrawler is a freeware Windows software so for Linux you have to find an alternative solution like 'google-sitemapgen'. Remember always to upload your sitemaps at the root of your web site and then re-submit the newer sitemaps at the search engines.
